Farm Trusted Research

Unbiased, Private Research Maximizes Yield

Have you found yourself relying on your salesmen for information on the newest production practices? Are you worried that the latest and greatest may not be a fit on your farm? Join a growing group of leading edge farmers that are putting discovery and research to work on their own farms, the Qualified Grower Network (QGN).

Technology and global competition have required farmers to stay abreast of a daunting array of new practices and products. Never before has there been more of a need to review and sort through the clutter of data quickly and effectively. Public university funding is drying up and manufactures now control product retail. Without unbiased information your confidence will dwindle and you will pay more for things you don't need.

Each season is a new opportunity to define and overcome research challenges. Why not do it yourself? You can. Hire an agronomist. Hire a statistician. Spend hours assuring trial design. Maintain impeccable records. Compile results. Throw out bad data. And finally get results. That's it?! Nope, you still need multiple site-years. Start over!

Most farm owners enjoy trying new things and taking a look at something different. In fact, many are collecting loads of data. However, not until design, efficient collection, and statistical analysis come together will this information become trust-worthy and effective.

Advanced Ag Solutions provides members of the QGN with large block trial design and conducts geo-spatial statistics to gather farm trusted, science based results from on-farm trials. Advanced Ag Solutions also employs randomized and replicated small plot trials on our research farm. QGN members benefit by knowing and growing more profitable crops before others even hear about it! And to make the process more exciting, it costs less than doing everything yourself!

In 2006 we are attempting to drought proof, peeking at experimental hybrids, evaluating substitute fertilizers, varying nitrogen rates, and exploring new high-tech seeding rates. Between the members' experiences, inquisitive thinking and seasonal inquiries, the potential for continued discovery is enormous. Join the QGN before the season's end and start making decisions on your terms. It is your responsibility.

Indiana Companies Partner on Aerial Imaging Research Project

Jeff Imel of Indiana UAV has designed and manufactured an autonomous flying wing capable of carrying a 13 pound sensor load. In addition, his sense-and-respond technology enables the plane to fly just 24 inches above an undulating surface and/or crop canopy… automatically! Advanced Ag Solutions will be working closely with Imel to perfect a precision ag service that utilizes the technology.

In the recent past, aerial imaging was reserved to satellites and contract pilots. Satellites are limited by the coordination of the earth’s rotation and the cloud cover. The pilots on the other hand, required expensive airplane modifications and on-call status.

“Imel appears to have struck a cord between the two,” says Advanced Ag Solutions company president, Daryl Starr. “This 7 foot wing span data logger can be launched by hand and fly a 30 mile mission, with portions just 24 inches above the crop. At this point, our creativity to apply agronomic principles is the limiting factor.” During the 2008 summer, Starr and Imel’s teams will involve participating farmers and various research staff to gather and analyze possible applications. Under consideration are variable rate nitrogen management, prescribed scouting, and biomass estimates. For more information on how you might contribute, contact Info@AdvancedAgSolutions.com
