Optimizer 2.0Optimizer is a site specific yield model. It combines soil, seed and daily weather data to project yields and limiting factors. For example, if it rains too much for a particular soil and seed combination, Optimizer lets you know.
How does it work?Optimizer tracks variables we input into the program. We start with detailed soil type data which includes moisture holding, OM, CEC, and pH, then overlay a seed profile. This profile is more or less a mathematical description of a variety’s rate of growth along with water and nutrient uptake at each growth stage. Next, we input historical weather patterns for the area and update it daily with actual, recorded weather. This process allows the projection to get more accurate with each passing day. We’ll then work with you to customize your inputs, playing different scenarios to maximize your yield. Use this to make more precise adjustments based on your outlook and risk tolerance.
How to use the output information?Initially, use this information to place seed varieties and rates based on water holding capacity and projected growth stages. Then, later in the season adjust your nitrogen sidedress based on how much rain you’ve had to date. Or, use the information to help make the decision to add additional nitrogen after a big rain.
How to get started?Currently, we have a free version and a subscription-based version.
